When a bridge disappears in a flood, rebuilding the crossing is only part of the challenge. The construction site itself remains exposed.

The Bhotekoshi flood on August 26 damaged roads and bridges along the route to the Rasuwagadhi border. This creates a difficult sequence:

clear debris, establish access, bring in equipment, and begin reconstruction while the river remains close to the work area.

Where Protection Is Needed

bridge approaches;
equipment staging areas;
material storage zones;
temporary access routes;
foundation and abutment work areas.

Flood Control Barriers can be configured around these working zones to reduce localized water intrusion and runoff.

Why the Construction Environment Matters

Bridge repair sites may remain exposed to rain and moisture for weeks or months. The barrier therefore needs to withstand more than a single deployment.

  • The welded low-carbon steel mesh is available with zinc-aluminum or hot-dip galvanized finishes, helping resist corrosion in wet outdoor environments.
  • A 2 mm polypropylene geotextile liner with UV inhibitors forms the inner containment layer.

Protection That Can Follow the Project

One area may need protection during foundation work, while another becomes the priority during access-road construction.

Flood Control Barriers are not designed to stop an extreme mountain flood or replace permanent river engineering. Their role is narrower:
